A Triumphant Return

The boys were in top form at Rocklahoma last Friday as they showed the crowd that they still have the magic power. Complete with pyrotechnics, masterful guitar licks and thunderous drumming, Triumph left everyone wanting more. And with the mention of a possible tour in 2009 we eagerly await to see what will emerge in the new year.

Until then, these YouTube clips will have to hold us off.  For a complete tracklisting and firsthand review of the show visit the Triumphmusic.com forums

Thanks Gil, Mike, Rik and Dave.

I never thought I would get the opportunity to see Triumph again.

It was 15 years w/o Rik and 21 years w/ Rik.

I had the experience of a lifetime, I met Rik/Dave for the first time and Gil/Mike again. Alex Andronache is a super-hero in my eyes( thanks Alex)

Lets hope 2009 brings new stuff, as everything is hush hush.

I loved the show. Before they started, a few younger people were asking who Triumph was and what they sing. I guess they asked me because I wore a Triumph shirt from the Never Surrender tour. After the gig, they were all loving it. I hope it brought the guys some younger fans and they'll sell enough cd's to the younger crowd to grow on this performance.
One concern was Rik, during Hold On, looked off stage and SCREAMED at someone. I hope it was just some roadie. Also, Gil and Mike looked like they hadn't played in 50 years. I hope they get in shape for the next tour!!!!!!!

"Hold on" has been (and always will be) my favorite song. It has inspired me for the last 25 years!!! I would be first in line for a chance to see Triumph perform live. C'mon guys, in Denver Colorado Red Rocks is one of the best places to play live you'll ever experience, just ask some of your rock n roll peers!!!!! Love you guys and your message.

Triumph should contact the Pemberton Music Festival for 2009.  They would be a good addition.

Rik, Gil, Mike, and Dave...I cannot stress this enough, THANK YOU!

As I mentioned to Rik at the meet-and-greet after the show in Pryor, OK...despite having to overcome a few sound/technical obstacles, the guys sounded great and the performance was outstanding.  I was very fortunate with my ALL ACCESS ARTIST credentials to watch from right up front - stage right by Dave and Rik.  A show worth waiting for...looking forward to more!

Been a big fan since the '80s and didn't think I'd ever get to see the guys live again, but it was well worth the wait! Thanks for putting the differences aside for the sake of the music, you guys ROCKED!!

well i should get ready to hear all the rediculous comments about what im about to say so hear it goes(and by the way for the idiots that do make a comment about this.this comment is nothing but pure honesty)i was so excited to see and hear that triumph had reunited i coulnt believe it.but after seeing and hearing them perform i realized that they are not the same band as they were back in the 80's as a mater of fact they were 10 times better then than they are now.from seeing and listening to the interviews after the last show im not holding out any hope of any kind of a reunion tour. i would rather remember them as they were in the 80's at least then they didn't have all these versions of all there songs which completly ruins them.anyway there it is boys and girls now i should get ready for all the nesayers and the negative comments about this comment (its pretty sad that you can't even make an honest comment without some coming along and slaming you) oh i guess as the old saying goes *** happens

The only problem is the people like myself, love to remember the good old days, and when we get a chance to go back to a simpler time period we take it. No matter how Triumph may look or sound in 2008 in my mind when I hear their songs it's 1983, and that's what we all want. Remember the boys are in their 50's now, let them remember that time period, let's rock at the 2009 reunion tour.

Yea Jerry i think you're right-no, not that Triumph was awful but that you are going to get negative comments about what you said. You are truly ridiculous! To say they were that bad means you must be mentally ill! Yea, obviously they don't quite do it the way they did but then it's a different time and place as everything changes  And by the way--you can't spell-Jesus go back to school!

First of all, I would like to thank Rik, Mike and Gil for putting together a show I thought I would never have the chance to see. When they were together before, I lived in a state that would not allow their pyrotechnic show. They did start coming to Oregon starting with the Progression of Power tour and I went to every show they performed there. Since moving to Houston, TX. I had one opportunity to see Rik perform and it was fantastic. But July 11th, 2008 was the ultimate. It was everything I had heard about, read about and hoped for. I went to Rocklahoma just for the once in a lifetime chance to see this. I was not disappointed and it was worth every mile I drove. I hope we get a tour next year. Thanks for all the music and memories in the last 30 years guys.

Jerry. Ofcourse Triumph is not the same band they were in the 80's. Rik can't runaround like he used too, can't hit the high notes as he used too. Gil doesn't sound as he used too, but he does sound closer to his original more than Rik does. As for the guitar it is obviously as good if not better than in the past. Mike and Gil will get better by the time the 2009 tour begins. The 2009 tour show (pyro and laser) will definitely be rockin. If anyone trash talks your comments saying that Triumph is still the greatest band just as they were in the 80's, is just fooling themselves. Having said that, I still feel that making any comments about how they are not as good as they were, is just plain unnecessary. That's common knowledge. For fans that never had the chance to see them it is an awesome opportunity to get to do that. As for remembering the band it doesn't matter if they do a 2009 tour and can't hold a flame to their oldselves. The memory you want to have is totally up to you. It cannot ruin what they did in the past. The point of the reunion tour is not to compare them to the past Triumph, but to rock with this 50 + year old Triumph band, and try to have as much fun as you know they will be having on stage.
