    ... and to stranger 1918...1918...1918...1918...

Um, that's no longer appropriate, considering they won it in 2004, erasing a 3-0 lead to the Skankees along the way. Surely you remember that historical collapse.

    * sorry wildcard wins dont count as a full win...maybe a quarter win...and I think 1986 is the biggest choke of all time..they needed 1 strike...... #19 still one of the best CF that I have ever seen though !!!!!

What I mean is, you can't yell "1918!" anymore because the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004. Beating the Yankees was just a nice bonus along the way. wink.gif

    knetzke11:
Game yesterday for me, we won 12-11...I threw 6 2/3 innings, struck out 12, walked two, 5 runs were earned, the wind was really blowing out to left, I hate having the dugout call pitches, I can call my own game!! I'm going to talk to them about that I think, its a lot easier throwing what you want rather than what the guy sitting in the dugout does. In the 7th inning, I struck out 4 batters and two outs were recorded...catcher cant throw the ball to 1st on a curve in the dirt to get the out, he had 3 errors like that yesterday, then we brought in another pitcher, he struck out that batter, so we had 5 k's in one inning and gave up 3 runs on 1 hit and 2 errors. As a team we have an on base percentage of .487 through our first 4 games(4-0). I finally started to hit the ball last night, first pitch I saw I hit a ground rule double, next at bat, hit a foul ball that got out of the park..ended up striking out though, smoked a line drive between short and 3rd...and flew out to center in my last at bat...we made 5 errors in the game, and we're still winning, if we would play better defense we'd be really smoking some teams. The 12 k's is a career high for me, and it came against one of the better teams I've pitched against...so now have 19 k's in 10 2/3 innings this year, thats a lot higher than last season...which is what I was hoping for.

Brewers now-Ben Sheets made a minor league rehab start last night throwing 5 1/3 innings, he struck out 9 and allowed only 3 hits and walked 1...threw 75 pitches, expect to see him start against the Mets sunday-I can't wait!!! I think I heard he had a hit in that game too, which is much more of a shock than his pitching performance lol(he's a horrible batter)

Well of course your K's are going to be high when teams are getting 4 and 5 outs an inning ... guess you've got your catcher to thank for your high number of punch outs, huh? Or could it be could pitch selection being called from the dugout? ... just ribbin' you Knetze ... keep up the good work and lay off the hooks ... they'll kill your arm ... that was one of my downfalls ...

Yeah dont worry about that, I don't usually throw a ton, mostly lefties...ugh I hate them, the two seam fastball just tails right back over the plate to them...makes them hard for me to pitch to, have to throw the offspeed stuff. I also throw a curveball the right way...most kids dont-and were never taught the proper way...there is no wrist snap, just cup your arm and then pull down "pull the string on the curveball"

I learned all of this from my dad-he was an amazing baseball player, threw a few no-no's in highschool, one summer league game, during a no hitter, the first batter popped out, and he struck the next 20 batters out...whew! anyway...he's taught me just about everything I know about baseball, fielding-batting-pitching...not so much batting, you do a lot of that on your own, just make sure to keep your front shoulder in so you dont pull off the ball and you see the ball hit the bat. That is a problem that I have that causes a great amount of inconsistency with me batting.

As for errors being the reason for a high number of k's...lol, nah I've had those every year so far. Last year in the second round of regionals when we were playing the number 1 seed in our bracket...we made 12 errors..I struck out 1 batter I think, just wasnt very dominating..good control and movement, not many hard hit balls, but they didnt hit me hard and then the fielders would still not make the plays causing me to throw to the good hitters many more times than I should have to making life difficult. I think the shortstop on varsity last year..made at the very LEAST 35 errors. He is now the catcher lol! so he finds ways to make errors no matter where he plays I guess.

Oh yeah...and my arm when it gets sore, is never behind my elbow which is where it usually gets sore from throwing benders..its just like the triceps and biceps area that gets sore, and then some shoulder stiffness so thats not so bad

Brewers Update: The Crew beat the Cards in 11 today, Carlos Lee(El Cabello) in the bottom of the 10th made two great catches out in left field, one he brought a home run back and the other was retreating to make the grab in deep left, this was with runners on first and second I believe...then to lead off the top of the 11th, he took...Isringhausen (I think since he got the loss) deep...Turnbow comes on gets the save Brewers leave St. Louis with a 6-3 record and I think are tied or in 2nd in the NL Central now....Doug Davis had a faily good outing, I think he went 6 and only allowed the 3 runs, which qualifies as a "quality start". The bullpen remains strong, not allowing any runs for the last 5 innings of the ballgame.

Wow can I go on and on about baseball...

1918,1967,1975,1986 all don't mean a thing anymore after 2004. Seems like some typical lame Yankee smack. All that really matters is the Yankees now represent the greatest collapse in the history of sports and luckily for us, it came against the Sox.

Big News-It is official that Big Ben will be making his first start of the season today!! I'm excited, its always fun to watch Sheets...throw the mid 90's heat then drop that knee buckling curveball which he throws as hard as most people's slider(80-83 mph), Brew Crew are in good shape so far..and better now that Ben is back

The Blue Jays are off to a decent start. 6-5, scoring some runs and the pitching, supposedly their strong suit, hasn't rounded into form yet.

    Re: Baseball team?

thats because AJ Burnett hasn't really pitched yet I dont think, he made a couple minor league starts, but had some kind of set back that put him on the DL..I think I read that a few days ago so I can't remember it all, it'll come around just wait, plus pretty much all of the hitters are ahead of the pitchers at this part of the season...and what are the yankees with that big payroll...5-6? lol they need to find some guys that aren't 38 years old to sign

He got his first start Saturday, knetzke, gave up seven hits and four runs in six innings, had a BB and five Ks. Jays lost 4-2.
Giving up only four these days will win you a fair number of games.

    Re: Baseball team?

Anyone like the Phillies? As usual they are off to a slow start. They always have to try and turn it on at the end and fall short of making playoffs. They don't have a stud pitcher. John Lieber is their ace, but he is probably a #3 on other teams. Haven't had a real ace since Schilling.

    Re: Baseball team?

Brett Myers has the stuff to be a pretty dominating pitcher...just has to put it all together, they're decent pitching wise..at the most...the pen is sorta shakey for them, but they are full of offense though-Ryan Howard has a great future ahead of him

    Re: Baseball team?

Alright, here's the highschool baseball update for Winneconne High School...

We have to play 5 games this week, already have two done, so here goes the story

Monday's Game-We crushed them, it was 13-2, finished in 5 innings, they were horrible, but its always nice to beat up on them since they're one of the cockier teams that we play. They made quite a few errors, walked quite a few, and we hit their pitching..so that is what equates to a big win I guess. I went 2-4 with a walk..I think I dont know about the walk for sure, had a triple and a single, and...3 or 4 rbi's...played short that game so I didnt pitch, that's yesterdays game so here it is.

Tuesday's Game-this was a conference game, so it was pretty big, one of the only two other undefeated teams in conference. I pitched, lead off guy went yard off me(the fence was really short, wind blowing sort of out..not directly though-oh well), got out of that inning, next inning first guy hits a little trickler to third, third basemen doesnt get his glove down it goes right under it, next batter hits a home run...catcher thought it was foul but they said it was a home run, so..home run it is, its like 3-4 now...we scored 4 in the top of the 2nd. That was it for them, they got a couple hits in the 3rd, then I dont think they had one for the next 4 innings, I ended up striking out 13(catcher threw a guy out at first after a dropped third strike..impressive! first of the year) and walked 2...2 earned runs, we won 16-3, that'll probably send a message to the rest of the conference with that one, the other team did make 9 errors, but we still hit the ball well. The second pitcher they brought in had struck out 15 batters the game before(it was against a bad team though) and we hit him pretty well, I had a couple hits off him, and ended up 3-4 with a walk and 3 or 4 rbi's again, so its a big week for me so far, and we still have 3 games to go. It has to suck to pitch to our team, we have a lot of long-long at bats, and draw a lot of walks, our on base percentage has to be over .500 on the year now which is incredible. So we're playing good ball right now and we're 6-0, only undefeated team left in conference, tomorrow should be interesting, I dont think we're throwing a very good pitcher because we have a doubleheader on Saturday, but I want the win bad to stay undefeated, so we'll see how that all works out, might just have to hit out way to a win...I dont care how we get it as long as we do.

And there is your highschool baseball update...

    Re: Baseball team?

Brewers are having a tough time right now with injuries to Sheets, Ohka, Helling, and JJ Hardy...Ben Hendricksen sucks...in his last start gave up 6 earned and didnt record an out, Jorge De le Rosa should be thrown into the starting rotation, he started there but wasnt very effective because of control issues like 3 years ago, but has show that his control is getting better, throw mid 90's...good slider, great curveball, and a definite plus change up, oh yeah..he's a lefty too, he needs a shot, I dont think Dana Eveland is going to be getting too many people out either...he struggled last year, he nibbles way too much, gets himself into bad counts...and doesnt have the overpowering stuff to get guys out when he's behind...Bill Hall is amazing playing 2nd, 3rd, short, and centerfield this season so far, hit a walk off dinger on mother's day with the pink bat...the crew is hanging in there, oh...for the candians out there, Corey Koskie is playing very well at 3rd and is swinging the stick really well at the moment...gotta love the canadians..oh at Miller Park his song when he walks up to bat is Rush's Limelight, I dont know if he picked that or if they just played it for him because hes from canada...still cool though, it should be something by Triumph though haha...

our baseball team has been doing pretty well...we're 14-5 right now, I haven't really been able to pitch for a long long time, well I did this last thursday, but I sprained my ankle..it still hurts so I cant throw nearly as hard or have anything else working like it normally does..running is okay, but pitching really hurts to do...so I've been playing outfield recently, and shortstop the last few games becuase I can handle the lateral movement better now, we ended up with a 2 seed in our regional so we have a first round bye...I'll let you know how the playoffs go..

    Go Brewers!
