THE TRIUMPH STORY
The 1970s
Triumph formed in Toronto in 1975 after a chance meeting led Emmett, Levine and Moore into a marathon jam session. The self-titled debut arrived in 1976, followed by 'Rock 'N' Roll Machine' in 1977 — its title track defined by Emmett's light-speed solo. Early Canadian releases caught fire in Texas, and 1979's 'Just A Game' delivered their first US gold and the hits 'Hold On' and 'Lay It On The Line'.
The 1980s
1981's 'Allied Forces' went platinum on the strength of 'Magic Power' and 'Fight The Good Fight'. Triumph exploded into the arena mainstream, winning Performance Magazine's 'Innovators of the Year' for a live show that pushed lighting, lasers and pyro to the max. 'Thunder Seven', 'The Sport Of Kings' and the double-live 'Stages' cemented them as one of the era's definitive live acts.
The 1990s
A new chapter brought vocalist/guitarist Phil X and 1993's 'Edge Of Excess'. The band built the revered Metalworks Studios in Mississauga — voted Canada's #1 studio for years running — and began preserving its legendary live catalogue for CD and DVD release.
The 2000s & Beyond
Inductions into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame (2007) and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (2008) reunited the classic line-up. Reunion shows at Sweden Rock and Rocklahoma followed. In 2019 Triumph were named 'Legends Of Live' and inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame. In 2026, the Rock & Roll Machine is RELOADED.
